Owning A Place But Not Local

As we discussed the cycle of potential problems owning a property in Portugal as an absent owner we reflected on when we have owned places overseas which we also ran as holiday lets. We immediately remembered how important having a good Property Management company is – and how stressful and troublesome it can be with a bad one…..

When you’re living in a different country you can’t go there in the middle of the night if the air conditioning breaks down; be there to calm the guest down if the property doesn’t meet their expectations on arrival: manage the cleaning team if the guests leave a terrible mess or be there with the key when the guest arrives six hours late because of flight delays.

In this social media and TripAdvisor age you can be out of business before you’ve even started if you don’t get it right first time or are unable to correct something quickly when something goes wrong. Getting rental bookings is only a small part of running a holiday let property.

So we created the final arm of Living in Algarve – Property Management. Not only making sure the property is clean and well maintained but managing the expectations of your guests too. You get the bookings and we’ll take care of the rest……

My name is Denise. Having spent over 30 years in an international career in Organisational & People Development I am now putting down roots in Tavira in the East Algarve, Portugal. I'm a female Brit, married to a Norwegian, and I find it hard to believe I'm in my early 60's when I don't feel it and have so many more things to do and achieve. I became an expat when I left the UK in 2001. Since then I've lived in Norway, Singapore, Malaysia and now Portugal. I love to travel, enjoy the company of good friends and cooking. But my life time passion is property. As the daughter of a builder I love imagining what any old or dated property can become and managing the transformation process. I'm lucky to have had the opportunity to do this many times and am excited to be doing it again in Tavira as well as helping others realise their own dreams.
